A Bitter Pill is a dance film exploring how hormonal contraception affects women’s mental health. Influenced by research into the science of hormones, as well as documents of real women’s experiences, the work aims to raise awareness about the possible issues surrounding synthetic hormones – to prompt women to take a deeper look into their own health, educate themselves, reflect, and to take control of their bodies. This film was created as a solo project during the Covid-19 quarantine, with minimal equipment.
