How it all began ...

Hello and welcome to my new blog Create Space.

Firstly, I want to start off by telling you a little about myself and why I decided to create this website. My name is Hazel Loftus and I am a budding dance artist, based up in and around Newcastle in the UK. In a nutshell I enjoy bad jokes, RuPaul's Drag Race and improvising to Fleetwood Mac in my bedroom.

I have been dancing for what feels like an eternity. Whether that be practising my pirouettes in the kitchen, teaching my peers the jump style to Scooter in the playground, or in an actual Ballet class.

And so at the age of 18 years, I made the decision to turn my late night bedroom boogies into my career. I packed up my bedroom and travelled to the University of Central Lancashire, where I graduated from 3 years later  with a first class degree in Dance Performance and Teaching. It was one of the best decisions I ever made (and I don't often make good ones). After graduating, I thought that Newcastle would be an exciting next adventure, so I accepted my place in the postgraduate company, The Collective, offered by Dance City. This was another one of my better decisions and I've enjoyed my time as much as a pig in a mud bath.

As my time with The Collective  comes to an end and I prepare to complete my last semester in the education system, I have decided to bring into existence this blog. Create Space is essentially, a mini online art gallery, made up of a collection of various artists. It aims to help shine light upon their artistic visions, provide them with a platform to engage with audiences and interact with other industry professionals.

So go grab a cuppa and enjoy the beautiful exhibitions provided by these lovely humans.
